Wierdness!?

I'm an am skateboarder. Idon't under stand why but when I'm not skating and i submerge off of something 3+feet it it hurts my ankles and knees but skating Idon't own that problem. Is there a solid explaination to why this happens?Wierdness!?
the wheel absorb some of the shock, as does the nonspecific momentum of rolling forward and bending your knees when you land
YOU KNOW HOW 2 ABSORB THE IMPACT ON A SKATE BOARD. YOU ARE TAKING ALL OF THE PRESSURE IN YOU FEET AND ANKELS WHEN NOT ON A SK8BOARD. THE SKATEBOARD TAKES SOME OF THE IMPACT WHEN UR ON IT
I'm no scientist, but, It's gotta be a shock piece. Like when you jump next to the board it is helping to absorb some shock & when you purely land on your foot your knees & ankles are taking it all.
