Why are we buying food from China Anyway/? And 90% of fish?

Are we trying to become totally dependent on foreign countries? To eat? Please don't repeat what some professor who have never lived in the TRUE world told you. Thanks. Why are we buying food from China Anyway/? And 90% of fish?
China is a BOOMING economy beside tremendous growth,
and due to lower production costs, we're shopping there.
We should enjoy inspection of food products though.
The pet food poisoning recently be traced to an ingredient that came from China.
we purchase food from other countries, not only just China, because it is cheaper, even with the cost of shipping it, than to purchase it at what american crop growing conglomerates consider a fair price. America could nurture the world, it has the extreme production rates in the world, but as beside everything else in the country, the cost for doing so is purely too damned high.
Very simple, cost of living contained by China is a fraction of what that is within the states. Therefore, production costs are a fraction too. Then factor in shipping and it still make for huge savings for Americans.
The USA buys plentifully of food from south of the border too.
My suggestion, if you have not already done so, lift economics 101. You'll start to understand the law of supply and demand and follow how and why China is able to do this.
Signed, an ex pat from the USA living surrounded by the heart of China.
Peace
Jim
